Julie & Andreas - In the Embrace of the Sea
In the Embrace of the Sea - Tango and Original Music
In this concert, siblings Julie & Andreas tell the gripping story of their grandparents.

Julie & Andreas take their audience out onto stormy seas — navigating between joy and adventure, heartbreaking loss, and the hope that brings light. The programme moves between Argentine tango and original compositions, a tribute to coastal people: to the brave souls who lost their lives at sea, and to those left behind to carry the extra weight, even through grief. The music holds a wondrous, melancholic joy.
The programme is drawn from ENE, a trilogy of albums built on the real-life story of the siblings’ own grandparents — from grandfather Edvin’s death at sea at the age of 29, through their grandmother’s solitary grief, to the life force she carries with her today.
In 2027, the ENE trilogy is completed. The final album, ENE Nærvær, is released digitally in autumn 2026 and on vinyl in early 2027 — following ENE Sildring (2021) and ENE Favn (2023). To mark the conclusion, Julie & Andreas premiere a new trilogy concert weaving together music from all three albums for the first time.
Julie & Andreas

Both are classically trained musicians — and their joint 10/10 cum laude master’s degrees from Rotterdam were earned specifically in tango performance. That grounding shaped their acclaimed debut album With the Sky in Our Hands, which introduced an authentic tango voice for the harp. The album premiered in Argentina at the world’s leading tango festival, to a standing ovation from a full house.
In 2019 they began the ambitious work of composing their grandparents’ life story into music — resulting in the three-album series ENE. With this work, Julie & Andreas have established themselves as musical pioneers with a wholly original voice. The concert programme I Havets Favn is drawn from the ENE series and has toured internationally, including performances at the World Harp Competition (2022 — 2nd Prize and Audience Prize) and Festival Mundial del Arpa, Paraguay (2024).
Beyond the duo, Andreas performs with the tango quartet SolTango, and Julie is a member of Terje Isungset’s Ice Quartet. Both siblings feature on the Latin Grammy–nominated album Tango Cosmopolita with Omar Mollo and Grand Orquesta Típica OTRA.
